March

We come to spot treat broadleaf weeds if necessary. We make every effort to treat your lawn on a day that is 50 degrees or warmer for maximum effectiveness of the treatment.

April

We come to apply crabgrass preventer when the redbud trees are in full bloom. This usually occurs in April. The crabgrass preventer needs to be watered in before it will start to work. One-quarter inch of water will allow the product to work properly.

May

If you regularly water your lawn, we fertilize with a slow-release fertilizer. If there are broadleaf weeds, we spot treat with a spray or use a fertilizer that includes a weed killer. The fertilizer needs to be watered in to the lawn for maximum effectiveness.

June through Mid-July

We apply a second round of crabgrass preventer by June 15. The crabgrass preventer requires watering in promptly in order to be effective. If the lawn has ever had a problem with grubs, we apply a grub control product during the first half of July. This treatment works to prevent grub damage. And, it must be watered in before it becomes active.

Late-July through August

If any grub damage is evident, we apply a very specific grub killer that targets mature grubs. The grub killer must be watered in within 24 hours or effectiveness drops.

September

We come to fertilize around Labor Day. This treatment is THE most important fertilization of the year. Watering in of the fertilizer is required.

November

We come to fertilize one more time. This fertilizer is taken up by the roots but is not used until the following spring. The fertilizer must be watered in to the lawn. We also spray for broadleaf weeds even if they are small. Broadleaf weeds are much easier to control in the fall than in the spring. We try to spray on a day that is at least 50 degrees whenever possible. And, if it doesn't rain within 24 hours of the application, the product must be watered in for maximum effectiveness.
